Rotating comics means it’s never exactly the same, and the room is small enough that even average sets feel funnier than they should. Comedy lands better when you’re in it. 🎸 The Meaty Ogres with The Mother Fathers at Sweetwater (Mill Valley) 🗓️ Thursday, April 16 | Doors 7:00 pm, Music 8:00 pm 📍 Sweetwater Music Hall 🎟️ Tickets $26 advance This leans funk and jam with real musicianship behind it. The Meaty Ogres have that loose but locked-in sound where the groove carries the whole set, and The Mother Fathers keep the energy up instead of letting it drift. If you like live music that feels played, not programmed, this hits. 👉 Pro tip Get there close to doors if you want to actually see the band, not just hear them. 🎬 Sing Sing screening + discussion at Lark Theater (Larkspur) 🗓️ Friday, April 17 | 7:00 pm 📍 Lark Theater 🎟️ Tickets $19 The film is strong, but the discussion after is what makes this worth it. You get real perspective from Marin Shakespeare and cast voices, which turns it into more than just a movie night. 👉 Pro tip Grab a seat early. The Lark fills quietly and then all at once. 🌿 New Living Expo at Marin Center (San Rafael) 🗓️ Friday, April 17 – Sunday, April 19 📍 Marin Center 🎟️ Tickets $33 advance (one-day pass) Big mix of wellness, talks, and vendors. Some of it is out there, some of it is genuinely interesting, and all of it is very Marin. You can go in curious and come out with a few things you didn’t expect. 👉 Pro tip Don’t try to rush it. This is better as a wander than a checklist. 🥾 Hike to the Quarry at Mount Burdell (Novato) 🗓️ Saturday, April 18 | 8:00 am to 12:00 pm 📍 Mount Burdell Open Space Preserve 🎟️ Free to signup Solid mix of light history and a good morning hike. You get views, a bit of local context, and it feels productive without being intense. Good option if you want to start the day outside and earn the rest of your weekend. 👉 Pro tip It warms up fast out there. Layers early, lighter by mid-hike. |
